- What does mufin actually mean?
mufin is an acronym composed of the words music and finder.
- What is mufin?
mufin is your music discovery machine, that will let you easily discover new music among millions of tracks. With music you really like!
- How does mufin differ from other music services?
The main difference to other recommendations is that recommendations by mufin are sound-based. Only the sound decides whether a track is recommended or not.
- Where does mufin get the music from?
mufin gets its music from record labels, for instance, Universal Music. At the moment, however, you can only listen to clips of the recommended tracks. We are working hard so you soon will be able to listen to the tracks in full length.
- Does it cost to use mufin?
No, mufin is 100% free.
The music recommendation
- How does the music recommendation work?
mufin analyzes millions of music tracks and saves their musical essence. When you start the music discovery machine it shows you tracks of similar essence.
- What does the musical essence that mufin analyzes consist of?
In the essence (also referred to as the fingerprint) all sound properties of the tracks, such as rhythm, tempo, instrumentation or sound density as well as additional data, such as the title, are saved.
- Which criteria are used for the recommendation?
The music discovery machine analyzes all tracks according to their sound criteria. The advantage is that the origin, genre, popularity or ratings are not used for the recommendation, only the sound of a music track is decisive when it is recommended by mufin.
Further possibilities of the music discovery machine
- What is the “Discovery Dashboard”?
The Discovery Dashboard can be found in "My Page" after logging in. Here you will get a brief overview of what others are currently discovering and what is searched for or clicked most at mufin, and which new tracks mufin currently has waiting for you.
- How can I share my discoveries with my friends?
Once you have discovered a track you want to send to your friends simply click on "More options" and "Send to friends". In addition, in “My Page” you can invite them using the button "Invite friends" and send them a message, or let them discover new music. Finally, you can share your new music discoveries on Facebook or MySpace.
- Can I buy music I like directly online?
Yes. You can buy any track on iTunes from the comfort of your home by clicking on the "Buy" button.
- How do I create playlists or notepads?
When you have found a track you like, you can add this track to your own playlist or Notepad list by clicking on "More options". You can create, rename and save as many playlists and notepads as you like.
Error correction
- mufin is displaying false information, for instance, about an artist!
By clicking on "More options" you can report the error to the mufin team. We will then try to fix it quickly.
- I clicked on the "Buy" button but my track is not available from iTunes.
The link to iTunes may not lead to the desired site. In such cases you can report the error to us here and continue searching on iTunes manually.
- Why can't I listen to tracks in full length?
Currently it is only possible to play extracts of recommended tracks. We are working hard, however, so you soon will be able to discover the tracks in full length.
- I can't log in. What am I doing wrong?
Please check you spelt your email address and password correctly. If you have forgotten your password we can simply send it to you by email. It you still can't log in please write us about your problem.

- Are my personal details safe with mufin?
We will treat your details strictly confidential and not disclose them to any third parties. For further information please take a look at our privacy protection policy.
- Can I change my user details?
Yes. You can simply change your data by clicking on "Personal settings" in "My Page". You can also change your email address and password here. If you aren't satisfied with the music discovery machine you can delete your account here, too.

- What are widgets and what can they be used for?
With mufin Widgets you can discover new music directly MySpace or Facebook and share it with your friends or add your new music discoveries to your profile for others to here. Try them here, they´re free!
