mufin player

  1. I can't log in!
Have you activated your mufin account registration (clicked the link in the confirmation mail)? If so, check whether you entered your email and password correctly. If you have forgotten your password you can create a new one by following the „Forgotten your password?“ link. It's also possible that at times our servers are busy, in which case no new queries are permitted. If this happens, it's probably best to relax and listen to a cool song before giving it another try. If you have any further problems contact us.
  2. I don’t get access to mufin.drive with mufin player!
The mufin player uses the Internet connection settings from the Internet Explorer. Please check if these settings are correct. In some cases, proxy-server (especially in companies) or firewall-settings may block the ports used by mufin player.
  3. How do I load songs onto the mufin.drive?
Click on the globe in the mufin.drive column. The tracks will then be automatically loaded onto the mufin.drive and can then be played from anywhere. You will be able to see if a song has been loaded onto your online music hard drive if the grey sphere is now in color. Under „mufin.drive“ you can see all the songs you've uploaded and can remove them from the mufin.drive by clicking on the globe icon. If you saved a track on your online hard drive but not on your computer (in which case there would be a blue icon in the top right corner of the globe symbol) you will be notified and asked whether you really want to delete the song, which prevents you from inadvertently losing the song altogether.
  4. How long does it take to upload to mufin.drive?
It depends on your internet connection and the size of your music collection.
  5. Why can't I upload my WMA file to mufin.drive?
This is because you can only load MP3 files to the mufin.drive. As a mufin player pro user you can upload any file format supported by mufin player, i.e MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, flac and wav.
  6. A "Debugger" message appears when I visit certain websites!
In Internet Explorer, the menu item "Tools" features "Internet options" and the tab "Advanced". There is a check mark there for disabling script debugging (for IE or others). This should avoid error messages in mufin player from now on.
  7. I want to add other websítes to my favorites. How can I do this?
If you've called up a website in a mufin browser that you want to appear in your favorites list, just click on the star on the far right of the URL bar.
  8. Why doesn't mufin.com show me recommendations for my tracks? The error message reads "session expired"...
This usually means that the connection to the mufin server has been interrupted. This could be due to a number of things: sometimes, if you log out and in again, this will reset the connection.
  9. I would like to arrange the axes in mufin vision differently! Is that possible?
The axes can currently only be changed in mufin player pro.
  10. I want to send a track from my mufin player to my Facebook profile, but it won't work!
To publish a track from your mufin player on your Facebook profile as a link you have to make sure the track is available on the music discovery machine mufin.com. The Facebook function is a Link Sharer, it needs a website as a basis in order to share. Very occasionally a song won't be available on mufin.com, in which case you won't be able to send it to Facebook.
  11. I want to scrobble the songs i've listened to on Last.fm. Can I do that? If so, how?
This function can be turned on and off for all your mufin player applications, regardless of whether you listen to music on your PC or your phone, just go to "Settings“ in "My page" on mufin.com. Then all you need to do is to log in if you use the mufin player and your songs will be scrobbled to Last.fm.
  12. I want to rip an audio CD to my hard drive, but the tracks having incorrect or missing info!
If the tracks on your audio CD do not feature information or if the info is incomplete, then select the tracks and click the menu item "File", "FreeDB", and then "get track info from FreeDB“. The correct metadata will be added to your tracks automatically if available on FreeDB. You can check certain audio files without metadata using audioid. You need an internet connection for both.
  13. I can't convert my audio CDs into MP3s!
If you do not have an MP3 encoder, then you can use the newest version of the free Windows Media Player to activate an MP3 encoder on your computer. Starting with Windows Media Player 10, conversion into MP3s takes place automatically in mufin player and mufin player pro.
  14. I want to burn an MP3-CD but it doesn't work!
Mufin player currently does not support burning of audio CDs.
  15. Will the mufin player support my iPod or iPhone?
If you also want to listen to your mufin playlists with your iPhone or iPod, synchronize your iTunes library with the mufin player and then transfer the playlists to the device as usual.
  16. The mufin player doesn't show my Android device!
You have to amend your USB settings. Please go to Settings --> About phone --> USB Settings and activate "Mass storage". Your device will then be shown in mufin player.
  17. My mufin player cancels analysis with an error message: a file with the format ._filename.mp3 cannot be processed!
There are typically thumbnail files that are used on Macs, but have no meaning on Windows. They have the same ending, are extremely small and have a dot before the file name. In order to circumvent problems that occur sometimes in mufin player, delete these files. Don't worry this will not have any effect on either the music or the system.
  18. How long does it take to import my music collection?
Depending on PC performance, analysis can take up to five seconds per track.
  19. I have already analyzed my collection with mufin player 1.5. Do I need to analyze everything again?
The database will be accepted completely by mufin player 2.0 or higher, i.e. you can use the new player immediately to its full extent. Since we've implemented new and improved mufin technology in mufin player 2.0, the existing database is being updated gradually. The advantage of this is that music recommendations, automatic playlists, and sound sorting is becoming more accurate and better.
  20. After deleting my database, the player loads and analyzes songs automatically then adds them to my music collection. Why does it do this, and what kind of songs are they?
Don't panic! The mufin player always strives to deliver the best performance. This is why it loads the songs you saved on your mufin.drive and songs that are available on your local hard drive directly onto the mufin player. This means you don't need an internet connection to play your favorite tracks.
  21. How can I move or delete individual colums such as genre, album, favorite song etc?
Of course you can fit the information displayed to your needs. By right clicking on a column a list will appear, in which you can select the most important criteria. The columns can even be arranged in a custom order. To do this click on the column title and drag it to where you want. The width of the columns can be changed by clicking on the side and dragging to make it smaller or larger. Very occasionally the column width cannot be adjusted. There's a trick to get round this though: select the appropriate category by right clicking and add the category again. Now the problem should be solved!
  22. How do I create automatic playlists?
You can create automatic playlists by either using the mufin-Muffin, which can be found next to the play button, or by clicking on Auto playlist in the sidebar, mufin player takes care of the rest.{BR}In the pro-Version of mufin player you can generate additional playlists to fit your mood, be it happy, sad, excited or calm. Furthermore there are lots of other options at your disposal to help refine your automatic playlists. This allows you to specify the number of tracks and exclude certain songs for example.
  23. I want to change the playlist length, how do I do it?
This function is only available in the pro-Version. In the mufin player the number of tracks is limited to 25.
  24. Some of my songs don't have a title or artist name. How do I fill in this missing information?
By right clicking on the respective song you will be given the option „Search for track“. The mufin player searches the track's ID3 tags and adds them where necessary, so that songs with complete information can be found in your music collection. Of course, you can fill in the info yourself by clicking on the column you want to edit when in the list view.
  25. Can I search for, and add missing artwork?
Simply highlight the desired track and left click in the corner on the placholder displaying the text „Search cover or drag here“. The mufin player then locates the corresponding cover and adds it to the entire album. Alternatively, you can right click and select the „Search for cover on Amazon“ function.
  26. Can mufin player automatically check whether I have new tracks in my music folder?
Yes, under the „My music“ category in the menu bar there is the „Monitor folder“ option. Here you can enter your music folder, mufin player will then check for new tracks in your music collection each time the program starts. If new songs are found they are automatically added to your library.
  27. Can I find and delete duplicates from my music collection?

The correct metadata will be added to your tracks automatically if they are available on FreeDB. Individual audio files without metadata can be checked with audioid.
